MOORE AND THEAD CROWNED
CHAMPIONS AT TWIN OAKS

Playing under virtually perfect conditions, 2005 JAGS Payer of the Year, Tom Moore (Huntington Beach, CA) played with purpose and focus to blow away the field and win by 17 strokes. Tom owned the course with 13 birdies, 17 pars and only 6 bogies for a 7 under 137 for the two day tournament. Tom later said “I liked the course and it obviously fit my game plus I have really been working hard on keeping my head still during my putting and it paid off”. C J Anderson (Corona, CA) finished second at 154; Ahron Valverde (Whittier, CA) placed third with a 158; John Caballero (La Habra, CA) took fourth and Matthew Stratton from snowy Littleton, CO captured fifth.
Julia Thead (Poway, CA) claimed her first JAGS Junior Tour victory, in a field of 26 players, with a second round 1 under par to finish at 3 over par, 145, for the 36-hole tournament. Julia scores for both days included 6 birdies, 23 pars and 7 bogies. Julia said “I am very pleased with both of my rounds especially being under par on the second day. I have played the course before and I like it very much.” Julia began round two day 3 shots behind second place finisher Veronica Valerio (Temecula, CA) who started the day at 1 under but finished two back at 147. Jessica Howe (Poway, CA) placed third at 151, Rebecca Song (Fullerton, CA) finished in fourth at 154 and Tara Taylor (Mission Viejo, CA) was fifth at 155. |
